In traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), our body is perceived as microcosm of nature: the body, just like nature, functions harmoniously with an interaction of a community of systems. In TCM, 5 element theory describes the relationship between each phase of nature and how it applies to understanding our body systems. In understanding 5 element theory, we can better understand our own bodies and how to live in harmony with the cycles of nature. Through discussion of TCM and 5 element theory as well as the Yin Yoga practice, we will come into an embodied understanding of how to maintain, preserve, and enjoy the health of our internal ecosystem.
